Whole genome sequencing reveals footprints of adaptive genetic variation in populations of Eruca sativa

چکیده
Populations of Eruca sativa (Brassicaceae) derived from arid and Mediterranean habitats exhibit ecotypic differentiation. Here, pooled DNA sequencing was used to assess adaptive genome differentiation in the two ecotypes. Differentiated SNP loci were scanned with empirical F ST outlier method by correlating allele frequencies environmental parameters. Genetic diversity values relatively higher genome, whereas exhibited stronger directional selection, indicating impact climatic conditions on genetic diversity. GO enrichment analysis categorized annotated differentiated according biological processes, revealing a large set candidate genes related abiotic biotic stress responses. Allelic variation detected regulatory elements coding regions (synonymous non-synonymous mutations) belonging different transcription factors phytohormone signaling, suggesting adaptation both conditions. Furthermore, mutations also found genic synthesis secondary metabolites, including aliphatic glucosinolates their hydrolyzed bioactive compounds, among others. The results this eco-genomic study demonstrate role divergent selection evolutionary processes leading

Intraspecific variation in defense against a generalist lepidopteran herbivore in populations of Eruca sativa (Mill.)
Populations of Eruca sativa (Brassicaceae) from desert and Mediterranean (Med) habitats in Israel differ in their defense against larvae of the generalist Spodoptera littoralis but not the specialist Pieris brassicae. Larvae of the generalist insect feeding on plants of the Med population gained significantly less weight than those feeding on the desert plants, and exogenous application of meth...
متن کاملWhole-Genome Sequencing Reveals Genetic Variation in the Asian House Rat
Whole-genome sequencing of wild-derived rat species can provide novel genomic resources, which may help decipher the genetics underlying complex phenotypes. As a notorious pest, reservoir of human pathogens, and colonizer, the Asian house rat, Rattus tanezumi, is successfully adapted to its habitat. However, little is known regarding genetic variation in this species. In this study, we identifi...
متن کاملComplete Mitochondrial Genome of Eruca sativa Mill. (Garden Rocket)
Eruca sativa (Cruciferae family) is an ancient crop of great economic and agronomic importance. Here, the complete mitochondrial genome of Eruca sativa was sequenced and annotated. The circular molecule is 247,696 bp long, with a G+C content of 45.07%, containing 33 protein-coding genes, three rRNA genes, and 18 tRNA genes. The Eruca sativa mitochondrial genome may be divided into six master ci...
متن کاملWhole Genome Sequencing Reveals Local Transmission Patterns of Mycobacterium bovis in Sympatric Cattle and Badger Populations
Whole genome sequencing (WGS) technology holds great promise as a tool for the forensic epidemiology of bacterial pathogens. It is likely to be particularly useful for studying the transmission dynamics of an observed epidemic involving a largely unsampled 'reservoir' host, as for bovine tuberculosis (bTB) in British and Irish cattle and badgers. BTB is caused by Mycobacterium bovis, a member o...
متن کاملWhole-Genome Resequencing of Experimental Populations Reveals Polygenic Basis of Egg-Size Variation in Drosophila melanogaster
Complete genome resequencing of populations holds great promise in deconstructing complex polygenic traits to elucidate molecular and developmental mechanisms of adaptation. Egg size is a classic adaptive trait in insects, birds, and other taxa, but its highly polygenic architecture has prevented high-resolution genetic analysis. We used replicated experimental evolution in Drosophila melanogas...
